We had lesson on May the 27th (Friday) in Torrelaguna, but only one student appeared (Mª Teresa). Since we have no many days left to end the course, we need to select a day for our 3rd Term Exam.
We decided to place the exam on June the 3rd (Friday).

Si quieres, una buena opción para mejorar tu conocimiento del idioma (y de paso ganar dinero, o al menos no perderlo ;-) ) es irse fuera (para nuestro objetivo, los países más típicos son Gran Bretaña, Irlanda y EEUU) a trabajar durante un breve periodo de tiempo (unas vacaciones, un par de semanas, etc..). Si te interesa alguno de los "jobs" que vienen en el título, pincha aquí. Recuerda que para adquirir una segunda lengua, el primer paso es "estar expuesto a ella". Titanic sinking anniversary - 14th / 15th April 1912
A day like this one, at this time, the most famous ship in History was sinking in the middle of the ocean, carrying away many souls to the depths forever. It is one year left to commemorate the first 100 years since its disaster. That is going to happen next year (in 2012, the same year as the Olympic Games in London - you can imagine the special events that Irish and British will do to commemorate this historic tragedy-). Today it is the 99th aniversary.
The largest passenger steamship in the world, the Olympic-class RMS Titanic was owned by the White Star Line and constructed at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Ireland. She set sail for New York City on 10 April 1912 with 2,223 people on board. The high casualty rate resulting from the sinking was due in part to the fact that, although complying with the regulations of the time, the ship carried lifeboats for only 1,178 people. A disproportionate number of men died due to the "women and children first" protocol that was enforced by the ship's crew.
Titanic was designed by experienced engineers, using some of the most advanced technologies and extensive safety features of the time. Adding to the ironic nature of the tragedy is the fact that the liner sank on her maiden voyage. The high loss of life, the media frenzy over Titanic's famous victims, the legends about the sinking, the resulting changes in maritime law, and the discovery of the wreck

La noche temática
Due to the anniversary on the 26th, April, of the Chernobyl disaster, TVE 2 at its progamming in 'La noche temática' has broadcasted (Saturday 9th April) two good productions. It's not an activity for our subject since it is not in English, but some of you have been doing activities related to the topic with me. This is some information that may be useful to know more and to be ready to have an informed oppinion. These two reports are very good quality ("La noche temática - La batalla de Chernóbil", and "La noche temática - La pesadilla de los desechos nucleares").
Anniversary of Yuri Gagarin - First human in space- and film about it
Yuri Gagarin's flight over the Earth will have its anniversary on April 13th.... There will be a film about it to show all the details, the problems and the happy end. You can get more information on the page: http://www.firstorbit.org/ where you'll find:

"MAD Magazine" - Revista joven de la Comunidad de Madrid e "INJUVE"
Esta es la página de la Comunidad de Madrid dedicada a los jóvenes. Recomiendo estar atentos a actividades que puedan ser de vuestro interés, desde informarse de cómo obtener el carnet joven, el de alberguista (para viajar por Europa en "plan mochilero" con un "inter-rail", por ejemplo), a trabajo, estudios, voluntariado, talleres, actividades culturales, actividades de verano e incluso cursos de idiomas en el extranjero (evidentemente con subvenciones). Espero que os sirva.
Es recomendable también visitar la página del INJUVE (Instituto Nacional de la Juventud). Los "Campos de trabajo son una opción muy buena para viajar, conocer a gente extranjera haciendo actividades juntos (restauración de edificios, ecosistemas, repoblaciones, etc..) y de paso aprender a comunicarse en otra lengua sin apenas gastar dinero (se trabaja y a cambio se ofrece la experiencia).
